September 21 to 23

The independent section of the 71st Cannes Film Festival is on tour in September at the legendary cinema Louxor in the 10th arrondissement of Paris. Eleven films will be screened over a weekend, in this place classified as a historical monument.

Born in 1991, the ACID (association of independent cinema for its diffusion) supports and gives visibility to the independent films. All screenings will be followed by meetings with directors, actors, screenwriters, composers … ACID has been offering its selection in parallel with the Cannes Film Festival since 1993. And many directors, now very popular, have benefited from the association in their beginnings, so that their films are screened in theaters. This is the case of the Belgian Lucas Belvaux, whose film Parfois Trop d’Amour was one of the first feature films supported by ACID in 1991, or Pierre Salvadori with Les Apprentis in 1995.

Among this year’s selection Thunder Road, our favorite of Cannes, winner of the Deauville Grand Prix. Or We, the coyotes, Hanna Ladoul and Marco La Via’s Franco-American film, a road trip through Los Angeles, in which a couple tries to start their lives again in the city of the American dream. There is McCaul Lombardi, who made a remarkable performance in Sollers Point.
