Film. Alex Pettyfer is on the bill of The Strangers Ones by Christopher Radcliff and Lauren Wolkstein, a horror thriller. We met the hope of American independent cinema during his stay in Paris. Interview.

In 2011, when we saw Alex Pettyfer for the first time in I Am Number Four (a sub-Heroes produced by Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg) and Beastly (a sub-under Twilight), we would not necessarily bet on him. The young man, born in England in 1990, had already performed, at 16, in a teen movie, Stormbreaker, and he seemed at the time be the archetype of the poster boy as Hollywood made in the chain before burning them without any soul-searching.

He himself recognizes it today: he has not gone far from this fate. And then there was Magic Mike in 2012, the meeting with Steven Soderbergh and Channing Tatum, then the understanding that there was an “beyond” in his art, that the cinema was not just to show his pecs and his pretty mouth to the camera. Even if, very clearly, it’s for these attributes that he figured in the cast of this (major) film about go-go dancers. From this revelation, we sawhim less, but better: a second role in The Butler (2013), another in the excellent comedy Elvis and Nixon (2016). And today, this great role in The Strange Ones by Christopher Radcliff and Lauren Wolkstein (Jury Prize of the Independent American Film at the Champs-Elysées Film Festival 2017). He interprets a guy to say the least “strange”, fleeing we don’t know what or why, on American roads with his so-called little brother. A performance that makes us look forward to Back Road‘s first planned release in 2019.
