Palme d’Or in Cannes for the incandescent Paris, Texas in 1984, Wim Wenders pursues a documentary work parallel to his fictional work (The American Friend, Wings of Desir…).

Since 1980 and Nick’s Movie about the great american director Nicholas Ray (Johnny Guitar), he directed Buena Vista Social Club, who revealed the old musicians from Havana or Pina, impressive doc in 3D about the choreographer Pina Bausch…

Now he deals with a monument : the Pope Francis who he met four times and could asked him 55 questions. A face to face without any boundaries : « He came alone. He was without protection, assistant or mobilephone. He doesn’t give a fuck about the power that he represents. His power is his conviction… »  The great German director made out of it a film that stands out : The Pope Francis – A Man of His Word. He gives us his definition of this kind of documentary cinema that he’s been practising for 40 years.
