Film. A new Park Chan-wook that echoes current news.

A pretty little flag decorated with a Swiss flag in the middle of a bucolic valle. It’s like being in the Alps. It’s the JSA (Joint Security Area) that separates the two Koreas, guarded by the Swiss and Swedish peacekeepers since the end of the war in 1953. Two North Korean border guards were killed by a southern border guard -Korean.

“Resonates with news of a possible relaxation between the two Koreas.”

To avoid escalation a Swiss officer of Korean origin (Lee Teong-Ae) is in charge of the investigation…

Released in 2000 in Korea, Park Chan-wook’s JSA (Old Boy, Mademoiselle…) remained unreleased in French cinemas. It comes out June 27 and strangely resonates with news of a possible relaxation between the two Koreas. We find the taste of the complex scenarios of the Korean thriller’s master which allows him to avoid any Manichean vision.
